Exterior:
Interior: When
first introduced, the 996 generation was criticized for not sticking to
911 roots with interior design, but this ended up being advantageous
for the car. Unlike old Porsches, the 996 interior is full of luxury.
Leather was offered on almost every surface in the car, and amenities
such as navigation or fully power adjustable sport seats were
available. Being an exotic supercar, the driving controls were
perfectly paced and easy to operate. The wheel fits perfectly into the
driver’s hand and the pedals were designed for tons of heel-toe
downshifting. The interior complements the modern exterior perfectly.
Driving: The 996 generation of the 911 was not only revolutionary in
its exterior and interior design, but its drive train and chassis was also
brand new. The 911 retained its
traditional rear engine layout; however this was the first year the 911 was
water cooled. This completely new engine
lead to insane acceleration and great performance on and off the track. The suspension was also highly updated for
the 996 generation which helped deliver on Porsche’s promise of a world class
supercar. For a cheap exotic supercar,
nothing comes close to a Porsche 911 for pure driving pleasure.
