The Chevrolet Corvette has been known for years as the best supercar deal on the market. This all American supercar was first introduced in 1953 by General Motors. When first introduced the Corvette was the only two seat American sports car on the market, and for almost every year since then it has been the premier American exotic. To date, there have been six generations of the Corvette, named C1 through C6. Over these variations, the Corvette has progressed from a curvy roadster to an aggressive wedge shaped coupe and convertible. Corvettes are known universally as indestructible muscle cars that can outperform supercars that cost two or even three times as much new. The first Corvette was designed by the famous Henry Earl. He was convinced that America needed a sports car to compete with some of the new offerings from other countries. Together with his special vehicles team, they designed and released the Corvette concept in 1953. The original Corvette had an entirely fiberglass body, a tradition that has continued to today. Unlike current Corvettes however, the original was extremely underpowered and did not handle impressively. In fact as sales started to fall General Motors considered dropping the project altogether.
Luckily, the Corvette was not dropped from Chevrolet’s lineup, and was instead improved upon. Each successive generation has featured more power, better handling, and more sophisticated styling. This legendary marquee has not gone unnoticed throughout the years. Motor Trend named the Corvette “Car of the Year” two years, while the Corvette has been on Car and Driver’s annual “10 Best” list 15 years. Automobile Magazine ranked the Corvette as the single coolest car on their “100 Coolest Cars” list. The Society of Automotive Engineers ranked the Corvette as one of the two “Best Engineered Car of the 20th Century”. These accolades go to show just how recognized the Corvette is as a world class supercar.
Perhaps the best part about Corvettes is that they are relatively cheap to begin with. Considering they can often outperform the best exotic sports cars such as Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Porsches, the Corvette has always been seen as a bargain. This means that used Corvettes can be bought for very reasonable prices. No other car on the market offers the same amount of raw power for such cheap prices. We have put together reviews and suggestions of some of the best Corvette deals on the market today. Have a look below.
